Yoga with a twist will focus on breath awareness, fluid movements and gentle, yet challenging postures. With regular practice, you’ll experience a greater sense of well being as you gain strength, flexibility, and balance, as well as a deeper mind-body awareness. All levels are welcome as are those more comfortable in chairs. Thursdays at 8:45 a.m. with Tracy Buckley. Class is $5.
Jeanne Donnelly, our Tai Chi instructor (for 5 years), personal trainer and exercise instructor is now the Core Balance instructor. Class starts at 12:30pm on Mon. and Thurs. Cost of the class is $5. As we age the importance of physical activity in preserving functional capacity, reducing and/or delaying frailty, managing chronic health conditions, promoting a sense of wellness and providing an enhanced quality of life is so important and undisputed among health care professionals. Be certain to add exercise to your life. One way is through the offerings at the Center!
Enjoy a Latin dance exercise on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. A workout that will use every muscle you have and you’ll have fun doing it. Lourdes Fournier, certified instructor, will keep your hips moving to the music. Cost is $5/class.
Total body workout utilizing weights, aerobics and stretching exercises is what Kim Vareika offers in her Monday and Wednesday classes. EFL 1 is a more advanced class with emphasis on cardio and core strengthening. EFL 2 is a great class for someone new to exercise or finished with a rehab program. Many of the exercises can be done seated. Cost is $5/ class.
Nancy Diduca has joined our exercise staff as our Line Dancing instructor . Nancy is at the Center each Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. This is in fact a form of exercise, simply ask the group after an hour of dancing. It is fun, social and you do not need a partner to line dance. This class is open to all, the class fee is $3/class and the best part, it’s not just for women!
Improve your balance with the Core Strengthening Class on Mondays and Thursdays at 12:30pm. Balance training repairs damaged pathways to the brain, strengthens weakened stabilizing muscles (core/abdominal muscles) and teaches the body new strategies for keeping itself upright. Join Jeanne for an afternoon dedicated to balance, abdominal and gluteus strengthening. Exercises can be done standing, on the floor and in the chair. Class costs $5/class
Fitness Camp is alive and kicking! Trainer Brian Szewczynski provides knowledge and skill as he coaches and guides the proper form of exercises to class participants. He is at the Center on Tuesdays at 1:30pm. Class is $10.
Friday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Tai Chi is a slow, gentle healing exercise that is ideal for seniors. This ancient Chinese exercise helps to decrease stress and stiffness, and increase balance, joint mobility, strength, flexibility and bone density. The Instructor Jeanne M. Donnelly, has been teaching exercise classes for over 30 years. No experience necessary. Class is $5.
Enjoy the benefits of yoga with Tracy Buckley on Tuesdays at 9:30 am. For those interested in a chair yoga option, join the class at 10:40 am. Each class is $3.
